SportThere are a lot of opportunities to play sport within the squadron, both within the squadron and in competition against other squadrons in hockey, football, rugby, tennis and netball. Once again however, it is up to the students to organise a sporting event if they wish, aside from the yearly inter-squadron events. ![]() Such events held are: - The Balti Cup (5-a-side football tournament), - Rugby 7's Championship, - Inter-UAS Tennis Tournament, - Various half-marathons. The Rugby 7's in particular is hosted by East Midlands UAS and proves to be a highlight of the year, with representatives of each University Air Squadron descending on RAFC Cranwell for a very busy day of rugby. As well as a good opportunity to meet other members of the other University Air Squadrons, sporting events give members a chance to develop new sporting skills as well as fitness and team work within the Squadron. The organisational side of sporting events can see students collaborating with other members of other Squadrons to organise an individual match, up to a complete inter-UAS tournament, but can also include organising more adventurous activities such as mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing, sailing, diving and skiing. See Training for more information these adventurous activities. |
